New experiences, new excitement after divorce at 50

by | Oct 2, 2013 | Divorce |

Divorce after the age of 50 is definitely stressful, said one woman who decided to share the personal details of her story. There is no denying that separating from someone who you have devoted literally a couple decades of your life to can be stressful, emotional and quite a shock.

That being said, she wanted to let others know that she “was given a gift.” She said that her life now is incredibly rewarding. She has the love of her children, her old friends and her new. She volunteers in her spare time. She writes for pure pleasure. She is even healthier than she has been in a long time after losing 70 pounds. In her words, she’s “sexy!”

This woman shared the fact that she was heartbroken when her husband told her that he didn’t love her anymore. Later, she learned that infidelity was part of the reason her husband had moved on first. She likened it to a movie where the man finds a “prettier, younger woman.” Only for her, it was reality.

When she was somewhat forced into the single life again, it took a period of adjustment, but she soon found herself enjoying her new life. Friends helped her get a new house “in the city” together. She began dating again, which gave her some great stories for drinks with her friends. She even tried the “younger” dating experience and had fun.

Of course, having a divorce settlement that adequately provides for this next step can make all the difference. It is important to choose a certified matrimonial attorney in New Jersey that not only understands a client’s needs, but also one that has significant experience in these types of cases.
